Applications Opening soon for the Introduction to Data Stewardship Microcredential 2027

Following a successful first delivery, applications are now open for the next offering of the Introduction to Data Stewardship Microcredential.

As research becomes increasingly data-intensive, the need for skilled data stewards continues to grow across the research ecosystem. This microcredential is designed to provide participants with a practical introduction to research data management and data stewardship, exploring key topics such as FAIR data, data management planning, research integrity, data governance, and the evolving role of the data steward.

The programme is suitable for researchers, research support staff, librarians, professional services staff and anyone with an interest in developing their data stewardship knowledge and skills.

We are also pleased to announce that Sonraí is funding three bursaries to support participation in this year’s course, helping to broaden access to training and professional development opportunities in data stewardship. The course will begin on 11 January 2027, with participants coming together for an in-person workshop at University College Cork on Tuesday, 12 January 2027. The combination of online learning and face-to-face engagement provides an opportunity to learn from experts, share experiences with peers, and develop practical skills that can be applied directly within research environments.
