New collaboration for NORF-funded Open Research networks in Ireland!

Sonraí, the Data Stewardship Network has teamed up with Open Repositories Ireland (ORI) and the Irish Reproducibility Network (IRN) to sign a Memorandum of Understanding from the 27 March 2026 that helps to strengthen Ireland’s Open Research ecosystem.

Through this work we jointly agree that the following objectives will be fostered and amplified:

 • Alignment of activities with national Open Research strategies. This will be done through the coordination of efforts under NORF’s Action Plan for Open Research, Impact 2030 and NORF priorities.

 • Enhancement of collaboration and amplifying impact across initiatives. We will leverage the partnerships that we have and amplify the work of other projects and networks to increase this visibility and impact.

 • Build capacity through shared expertise, training, and resources. Sharing expertise and resources between projects will help to strengthen the engagement of the Irish Open Research community.

Our principles will be guided by transparency (open communication and sharing), inclusivity (engaging diverse groups and communities), and mutual benefit (we will support the missions of all involved).

Good governance will help each network to coordinate these activities, with regular check-ins and identifying opportunities for collaboration.

Overall, this partnership aims to better connect and support the research community nationwide.
